The live web, made up of millions of timely conversations about everything, reflects our world's ever-shifting attitudes and beliefs in real-time. If it's your job to keep up with what's happening in a particular subject area, mTrend lets you identify important changes as they emerge by monitoring the conversations that you care about.

mTrend is perfect for

  • companies monitoring competitors and trends
  • financial analysts following specific companies or industries
  • consultants that engage emerging trends and strategic market issues for their key clients

How would I use mTrend?

Use mTrend to

  • Identify important new themes so you can act deliberately before your competitors do.
  • Recognize and influence emerging thought leaders and influencers early in their development.
  • Stay informed without an overwhelming number of searches or multiple keyword alerts.

How would I define a trend to follow?

With mTrend, you can broadly define the type of information to follow through a simple user interface or an open API.

If you know an article or paper that does a good job of describing the trend, we can define a trend to monitor from it. You also can specify the trend manually by highlighting relevant content attributes for the trend, including:

  • Categories that you choose from our modified subset of the Wikipedia categories. This set of categories reflects the material often found in RSS feed items.
  • Topics that represent events or ideas mentioned in multiple feed items in recent days or weeks. mTrend algorithmically identifies and names each topic.
  • Named Entities that identify the people, places and organizations mentioned in a content item.
