Seeking Experienced Linux System Operator/Developer
Seeking experienced systems operator and developer for sophisticated software-as-a-service application. The application serves widgets, web-service APIs, and user interfaces. It is implemented primarily in Java, and the platform is Linux/Tomcat/MySQL. The application also uses many other open source components including Dojo, Spring, Hibernate, Lucene/Solr, and Sun OpenMQ.
The applicant must be both a strong sysops person and a strong programmer, and must be excited about the opportunity and intensity of a startup environment. They must have substantial experience installing and managing the following components:
- Linux on server-class machines with internal and external RAID arrays
- Apache Web Server, Tomcat, and MySQL
- The Sun JDK
- General data-center hardware setup, diagnostics, and maintenance
- Data-center automation scripting such as shell scripts and Per
- System monitoring software such as Nagios
The ideal applicant will also be expert in some of the following areas:
- Software-as-a-service application development and managemen
- Linux virtualization
- Cloud computing
- Java programming
